OUR CLUB
Manly Dragon Boat Club was formed in October 2006 by a few passionate and dedicated individuals. In January 2007, our Club leased a Dragon Boat, 20 paddles and a sweep oar which enabled us to commence paddling. Since that first day on the water our level of excitement, optimism and commitment has not abated.
 In our foundation year we have achieved amazing results. Our membership has grown to 70 paddlers. We have purchased two new 'Champion' Dragon Boats funded by a grant from The Gambling Community Benefit Fund. We were also successful in obtaining a grant from Dept. of Sport & Recreation, to aid Club Development. Most recently our Club has welcomed the generous support of two major sponsors The BMD Group and Michelle Rodgers from Remax Manly.
MDBC entered our inaugural Regatta at Tin Can Bay in July 2007 barely managing to put together a full team of paddlers. The experience proved so exhilarating and rewarding we have entered teams in every Regatta on the 2007/2008 calendar including the Broadwater Classic a 14 kilometre marathon.
With our continued expansion we were able to enter two competitive teams, a Mixed Premiers and a Masters Woman's in the last regatta of the season. Both teams made it into the major finals for their divisions. A fabulous result for year one!
MDBC is based within the secure grounds of Wynnum Manly Yacht Club which provides us with exceptional facilities and a superb paddling environment.
 Dragon Boat Racing is the epitome of 'team sport' and appeals to participants of all ages and fitness levels. We have strong representation in the Masters and Grand Masters Divisions and currently have an active program implemented to further grow our club by establishing a Junior Squad.
We welcome enquires from all interested parties and invite you to one of our weekend training sessions so you can experience the ethos of dragon boat racing and be enriched by this sport.
